Coda is the dog I never wanted to own but I now cannot imagine my life without this big goofy dog.  When I paid for Grace to show, the deal was two bitch puppies.  Well as you can see that did not work out so I ended up with Coda.  I needed another male like I needed a hole in my head, but there was no way I was going to pass up Coda.  Coda is a dare devil.  He leaps out of his crate into my arms.  He is fearless and just full of joy.  His front is stellar and is an exquisite mover too - basically he was too nice to let go so here he is (all I need now here is a black tri male and I will have the Aussie rainbow.

Saying that, his pedigree is something that can be used by many breeders.  When we were looking for males to breed to Grace (with the help of some of the finest breeders in the breed) We had settled on trying to find a son of Fib, CH ThreePines B'gosh of Bayshore and then stumbled onto Reuland who is by Fib's littermate and whose dam is an incredible producer in her own right and a littemate to Legacy's Power player.

We were so incredibly lucky that Bob Kirwin and Erika Lanasa allowed us to use Reuland whose pedigree is just stellar.  They were so kind and I cannot thank them any more than I have to have been so supportive.  It is funny how people come in to yout life.  Coda has a tremdous pedigree that carries many of the top kennels that are no longer active, but they are very active in the pedigrees on many outstanding dogs.  Sadly Grace only had one litter and because of this I am allowing him to be standing to the public.

Coda has one litter on the ground and they all have his amazing temperament and wondeful conformation, because of COVID none have had the chance to show which is very dissapointing but in the grand scheme of things they are happy well adjusted pets!

My plan had been to breed Grace daughter's to Stinger and instead I duess I am breeding Coda to Stinger daughters (or will once he is old enough).  Sometimes like gives you lemons and you make lemonade!  Coda is the best lemonade money can buy.  And he is clear for the Aussie genetic panel which is wonderful - I love this dog!

Breeding this stellar pedigree to a 27 time Best in Show winning bitch made sense on paper as well as in person - Coda is everything I hoped for and more.  He is the house clown, he will steal anything not nailed down and is always wagging his entire body to let you know he is a devil.  He is obsessed with carry MY things, I tell him he must be part labrador.

People who meet him at first think may think he is an airhead.  He is probably the smartest dog I own.  He just is so fun loving and goofy that you miss how incredibly smart he is.  I have kept him out of the public eye to let him grouw up but have shown him to people who I trust their judgement and they all come away going....WOW.  Now that he is out showing people are learning he is as beautiful inside as out!

I think it is hard to not show something when you are this proud, but it is important to me that I do right by him as well as Grace, so we are letting him grow up, play in the mud, basically be a dog.  He will have a very long career ahead of him. He will show some in 2019 but we are not in any hurry with him - he is the dog I always wanted and cannot believe lives with me.

We took him to his first match and literally all of the herding approved judges walked up and said WHO IS THAT.  Coda was barely leash broke and walked into the ring and owned it.  He has presence in the ring that you cannot teach - and each time he got better and better.  He loves to show!  Coda has many great qualities to go with his rock solid temperment.  He has a spot on front and a great rear and lovely sidegait. He also is a substancial boy with a ton of coat and great color.  Can you tell I love him?  The truth is that everyone that meets him falls in love.

On the show front Coda is learning to be a show dog and from all accounts is catching on quick.  That first weekend he got his first major and in less than a month he is halfway to his championship.  He will have a long career ahead of him and my only hope is I can get him home so I can have him back here being goofy.  He is just the sweetest dog ever.  Note:  After we lost Memphis I brought Coda home and then planned to bring him back out to finish in the spring.  Due to Covid that has been pushed out but he will be back out!  He has nine points in AKC and will be showing in AKC and ASCA in 2021 with Jillayne Karras.

How Coda Got His Name

As much time as we spent on pedigrees, I spent equal on names LOL.  I started thinking of a male name that fit into Amazing Grace.  So I started with classic music and then I thought about power and timeless and that pushed me towards rock and I started thinking of a powerful song that exemplifies rock and it hit me Bohemian Rhapsody.  A powerful song that can never be overshadowed or copied.  I feel the only merle son of Grace needs to be a standout and needed a standout name.

In music, a coda is the final part of a fairly long piece of music which is added in order to finish it off in a pleasing way.  Coda was an end to a great ride with Grace, I thought it was a great name for a great puppy!

CH Double R's Return to Me at Bayard "Reuland"

Reuland's show career was cut short due to an injury.  In his only show as a Special he received an Award of Excellence at the ASCOF Specialty Show.  Reuland has a pedigree that screams pedigree power, his sire CH Threepine's Addiction of Bayshore "Dickie" is a littermate to the immortal Three Pines B'Gosh of Bayshore "Fib" and his dam CH Legacy's One Day at a Time "Snowy" is a littermate to HOF Sire Legacy's Power Play "Player."  These dogs are in the pedigrees of many of the super stars of today.  Dickie had very limited litters and Snowy was a temendous producer (progeny include Group Winner GCH Double R's Rumspringa and Group Winner GCH Double R's Alberta Clipper).

MBIS MBISS GCHP Wind Spirit Rod's Amazing Grace "Grace"

It's hard to come up with word's to describe Gracie Lou.  On a shoe string budget with deep convitions we took Grace to every show and she never disappointed.  We did not cherry pick shows, we just believed and with that belief she is the all time Best in Show winning aussie.  No one thought Flapjack's record of 26 would be beaten and we did it.  And we did it without cherry picking but more than that record her record of 30+ BISS with many being under breeder judges was incredible In her career and sometimes you just have to look at her career and shake your head - Grace truly was amaizing!  Sadly she only had one litter but is living in luxury at home in Brazil with her breeders!
